This album was written and recorded over the period of 2 years 2004-2006. I was disillusioned with bands and group dynamics at the time because I really wanted to commit to recording and touring. So I started making very makeshift and amateur beats and layering arrangements. This was like music production bootcamp for me. I would spend days creating layering and perfecting. All the while I thought I was prepping for the real thing not realizing I already was the real thing. Not realizing the magic in the work I was already doing. My wish was always to just have the freedom to creatively express myself through song. I learned how to make music through this desire. And now looking back I can proudly say I was a laptop musician trailblazer. In a time when no one else was doing it. When I was often derided for doing "karaoke". It feels good to have had the culture catch up to what I was doing at the time. I wish I had had more faith in myself and continued on this trajectory, but I feel lucky to have continued this journey the way I have.
